Destination Capitol Hill Overview

The Oregon delegation included representatives from the Oregon Tourism Commission, Oregon Destinations Association, Travel Oregon, Travel Portland, and the WCVA.

Last week, WCVA President and CEO Dave Parulo joined more than 300 national travel and tourism colleagues for the annual Washington DC legislative fly-in organized by U.S. Travel and called “Destination Capitol Hill.”

Dave was honored to be part of the Oregon travel delegation that included Travel Oregon, Travel Portland and WCVA.

The Oregon delegation had direct member visits with Senator Ron Wyden and U.S. Representatives Suzanne Bonamici and Cliff Bentz. In addition, the team met with the congressional staff of Senator Jeff Merkley and U.S. Representatives Kurt Schrader and Earl Blumenauer.

During the visit, Dave expressed personal thanks to Senator Ron Wyden and Representative Suzanne Bonamici for their leadership on the Semi-Conductor Task Force aimed at keeping Oregon competitive in attracting and retaining our vital Washington County tech industries.

The Oregon delegation gained an impressive coup by having both Roger Dow, President & CEO of U.S. Travel and Chris Thompson, President & CEO of Brand USA joining our delegation dinner.

Dave returned home very satisfied both with the congressional meetings and the national reconnections he was able to make on behalf of the WCVA and Oregon.
