COVID-19 has directly affected the hotel industry throughout the United States, and Washington County is no exception. This time of year traditionally is a “soft” period for area hotels. However, we are still seeing decreases directly tied to the decrease in business and leisure travel due to COVID-19 and related travel restrictions and recommendations.
For December 2020, Washington County’s hotel occupancy averaged 39.2, a 30.8% decrease from the same period in 2019. The average daily room rate (ADR) during the same period was $83.98, an 21.8% decrease from the same period in 2019.
The following graphs illustrate the weekly occupancy and ADR trends from December 2019 compared with 2020.
